The Nineties part 2

Western Australia has a growing number of show dogs of differing bloodlines with both Clanach and Fairsky being well represented as well as the long established Sabu kennel of Steve Warry.

NSW is the most cosmopolitan state with numerous representatives of every bloodline, old and new, sometimes all in the same kennel!  The winning kennels of the nineties are in the main, long established and include the Burchfield, Rothley, Azucroft and Stephdie Kennels.

Ch Burchfield Call Me Madam

Carolyn Burch's Ch Burchfield Call Me Madam, has been a very consistant CC winner both at Royals and Specialties and Carolyn has also bred the Specialty BIS  and All Breeds BIS winner Ch Burchfield Royalist
Geoff and Angela Towle's Rothley Springers have also been very successful with the bitches Ch Rothley Friendship and Ch Rothley Miss Marples and Campbell's Ch Rothley Leading Lady, all being CC winner at Specialties.   Ch Rothley Justice Prevails is one of the few Springers to have both a Specialty BIS and a Sydney Royal BOB to his credit.

The Azucrofts of Robert and Yvonne Lauder were founded with a Cudgera bitch but Robert owned a Casa Perez a while before that.  Today, they are a very consistant winning kennel, with the winning father and son Ch Fraelight Field O' Dreams

(Specialty BIS

winner) and Ch Azucroft on the Prowl (a dual Specialty Runner Up in Show winner).  The Field O Dreams daughter, Ch Kyandie Bracken, is also a Specialty BIS winner and resides at the Stephdie kennels of Wally and Diane Seymour.  She is their third Specialty BIS winner joining Ch Marshring Invincible (2 Royal CCs) and Ch Stephdie Winter Boy.

Two newer kennels making their mark are the Silvaspring dogs of Bill and Maryann Borg and the Reibey Springers of George Render and Shannon  Lancaster.  The best known Silvaspring Champion is the Grand Slam son Grand Ch Silvaspring Magic Knight, winner of many BIS and the CC winner at the 1999 Sydney Royal.  Ch Silvaspring Highlander was RUBIS at the 1998 October Specialty in NSW

The Reibey Springers are named after the foundation bitch, Ch Rothley Mary Reibey, and are currently represented by her daughter the Royal CC winner Ch Reibey Ashley Manor.  Ch Reibey Charlottes Web was RUBOB at the 1998 Sydney Royal.  A litter via frozen semen from Sweden (the first in the breed), has put Reibey into the history books.

The most consistent winners at Royals and Specialties, in recent times in NSW are the Alhambra Springers of Kate and Michael Keely.

Australia has been the recipient of many show and field imports since the thirties. However the breeders seldom get the chance to reciprocate, but recently, the wheel has turned full circle.  Just a couple of years ago Mrs Frances Jackson, of the world famous Mompesson kennels

Clanach Crown Destiny

(who has bred three springers imported into Australia) together with husband Bob, took delivery of a descendant of Aus Ch & English Sh Ch Mompesson Sleeping Partner.  Clanach Crown Destiny, (a son of Ch Clanach Union Jack and Ch Clanach Crown n Sceptre), is bred by Phil and Marie Merchant.  A huge success as a stud dog with winning and Champion progeny world wide Clanach Crown Destiny elevates Australian springers to an international level.
